Leaving work about a million hours later than I was supposed to today, my friend E and I decided to head to Bethesda for a little fake Tex-Mex food - she too is from the land of Texas.
We had a pleasant time, gossiping about work, our friends and trying to figure out if the couple that were sitting next two us had any idea that they werent in a hotel room- PDA is only a small way to describe what these two people were doing. Not that I would ever partake in PDA.
Thats not my point. I finally got my move strategy straightened out, got the movers alligned for Monday morning, made my plan of attack for tomorrow, and we decide to leave so I can go home and pack up what i have in my room.
We are laughing and talking as we walk to the parking garage. I make a snarky comment about a woman wearing shorts and high heels- can somone please explain this fashion phenomena to me? Anyhoo- we get inside the garage, and I see my car. I miss-step, fall flat on my face and in the process tear my knee apart to epic proportions. Also, I must say this is my favorite part, I twist my ankle that has been broken three times. My ankle is black and blue, but thankfully I can put weight on it, and my knee looks like, well, shit. I tried laughing it off, but it totally irritated me. I will never have pretty legs, that I know for sure. But for ONE spring time I would love to have legs that dont look like someone took a bat to them. My entire left knee is cut up, and totally looks disgusting.
The positive part of this post- 1. I did not do any significant damage to my already really screwed up ankle. 2. I fell wearing a skirt, thus preventing the sure ruination of a good pair of pants. 3. My move strategy is complete.
The shitty part of this post- I was wearing bright green underware. I am pretty sure that the two guys that were walking behind me got to see full on green underware as my face is hanging out on the cement.
Graceful, I will never be.
I am off to bed and here is hoping for an accident free day tomorrow.
Anyone want to go to the beach with me next month?
I have no idea how I found your blog, but I just wanted to say I'm happy I did! Reading about your move just reminds me of why I'm not moving out of my overpriced Chevy Chase digs! Good luck!

K, do you subscribe to Washingtonian Magazine? My subscription isn't up until next Jan, and I've just been throwing 'em out since we moved. If you'd like to get the rest of my subscription, let me know (and give me your new address).

Hey...
I know just how you feel re: moving. I spent one year too long in a crappy apartment in Montgomery Village because I didn't want to go through the perils of trying to move again. It was AWFUL!!! I will never leave my condo, ever ever ever. They will have to bury me in here, which I'm sure will bring the value straight down.
I also empathize about the falling thing...I have managed to sprain both ankles in my 37 years of existence, and I have a myriad of bruises come spring/summer.
I don't get the shorts/high heels thing much myself these days. Then again, I wasn't entirely sure about men wearing bermuda-length khaki shorts, dress shirts and ties in the early '90s. Only Boyz II Men made it look good, not white boys with knobby knees.
Great post! I'll come back when I can!
